British genetic study shows that white English people share about 40% of their DNA with the French, approximately 26% with the Germans, 11% with the Danes and around 9% with the Belgians

The study also shows that the Celtic people of North Wales are probably descended from some of the oldest inhabitants of Britain. The research also shows that Northern Ireland can be divided into two genetic groups but the researchers don't seem to indicate whether these groups represent Catholics and Protestants.

The way things are going, future studies will reveal English people have significant south Asian and African genetic material. Or at least that's what UK rulers wish. Witness the opening ceremony horror of the 2012 London Olympics.
