Lighter skin color correlates with higher earnings among new immigrants to the United States

Immigrants with the lightest skin color earn on average 17% more than comparable immigrants with the darkest skin color. Are people with lighter skin more intelligent? Some tests have shown that there is a positive correlation between lighter skin color and higher test scores. The data also shows that those with darker skin color are less likely to be self-employed.
